This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by the Trace
Website. Please assist us in protecting your privacy by contacting us or by using
the contact information on the Website if you become aware of any abuse of your
privacy by any person.
This Privacy Policy is effective upon acceptance for new users and is otherwise effective on May 1, 2009. We may from time to time review and revise our privacy practices and will post any changes to this Privacy Policy here. Please refer back to this Privacy Policy on a regular basis. Collection of Personal Data

The only Personal Data that Trace requires from you when you register on the Website
as a reporter is your e-mail address; however, when you register as a searcher,
we require your email address, postal address and phone number. Trace will never
sell, license, trade or rent your Personal Data. Trace may for legitimate law enforcement
reasons share Searchers data with law enforcement as explained below.
Information that you provide to the Website is accessible to any visitor of the Website who knows your username and password. For this reason, please safeguard your username and password carefully and do not disclose it to any other person.
Protection of children's online privacy
Trace understands the importance of protecting children's privacy, especially
in an online environment. The Website is not intentionally designed for or directed
at children less than 14 years of age.
Use and Disclosure of Data Collected
Trace’s database consists of stolen, seized and found property, much of which is
obtained through police records and citizen submission. Although there is no personal
data attached to these records, agreements with the FBI and Police Departments require
that searchers of the database be identified to meet legal requirements and for
a law enforcement investigative response to potential stolen property.
Your personal details required during registration may be shared with the police anytime Trace believes the sharing of information is appropriate for the recovery of an item or to aid in an investigation of a theft. The searcher has no expectation of privacy of their data in relation to the police, when searching Trace Databases.
Except as specifically set forth above, Trace does not sell or rent your Personal Data to third parties for marketing or other purposes, ever.
Trace does not collect any sensitive personal data (for example, information relating to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, or religious or similar beliefs) from users. The description of an item that does not identify personal information is considered public data.
Any personal data that you inappropriately included in an item's description may be viewed by anyone who accesses the Website and cannot be subject to any expectations of privacy. Trace strongly discourages including personal data in an item's description and such information can be deleted from the Website/database at our discretion.
Users located in the European Economic Area
By using the Website, you acknowledge and consent to the fact that Personal Data
provided by you or collected by us through your use of the Website is stored and
processed by us in a country where data protection laws may not afford the same
level of protection as those of the country in which you are located.

First, individual customers who reside in California and who have provided their Personal Data to Trace may request (no more than once per calendar year) information about our disclosures of certain categories of Personal Data to any third parties. To make such a request, please send an email to info@tracechecker.com and provide us with your name, address, and e-mail address. Within thirty days of receiving such a request, Trace will provide a list of the categories of Personal Data disclosed to third parties during the immediately preceding calendar year, along with the names and addresses of such third parties.
